Gigabot has 100% taken the place of building architectural models in foamcore. It's easier, much more accurate than the human hand, and the material is more durable. It fits into the workflow and prints can be repeated exactly how expected. We just have to press the go button, and we can go do other work.
Without Gigabot we would have had to go the traditional plastics fabrication route (like vacuum forming) but in our early development we didn’t have budget for these processes and it didn't allow for quick iterations, key for trailblazing in the field of personal robotics... The impression we consistently get is that we used a more elaborate process. It's a huge enabler for what we're doing, and working with re:3D has been key to us getting a product in 8 months.
We wanted to show our capabilities to clients. When you can see something in 3D, it's so much more impactful. It's a great selling tool for our capabilities and our products. It's the new wave of doing things - people seem very impressed by that. It really helps to sell our business.
